So..New Wedding date...101 new ideas.?

We pushed our wedding back to April 2008. No problems, except monetary problems. What I'm wondering is, I'm still trying to find pretty cheap bridesmaid dresses. And I don't know what dress I want. If 4 months ahead is when I should buy dresses, that will be christmas time so is it smarter to buy like 6 months ahead or wait and do like 3 months? Any and all ideas for nice small weddings appreciated. I like burnt orange or a bright blue like david bridal's cornflower blue. I'm not good at making choices....but maybe bcause I haven't heard anything just right for me. Any useful help is wonderful. I will try to give otu good reviews for all nice comments and will be picking best answer. Thanks all!

So..New Wedding date...101 new ideas.?
First off your wedding, your choices. Stand up for them now, because there will be plenty of people trying to put you down...it just is that way with weddings.

I am a beauty consultant and a lot of my clients order their make up and products online. I have the name of the company if you want.

Start with a wedding magazine, they have great tips and timelines to go by. Be confident and be prepared, weddings aren't easy, but worth the work.

Go to overstock.com for bridemaids dresses and have them altered. Search classified for bridal gowns, used/new, cheap. You may have to have it dyed the color you want though, but that's cheaper than buying it new.

Good luck
Reply:The bridesmaids dresses will be available 4 months in advanced, so you should buy them at that time. Stick up for your decisions, this is your wedding!!!
Reply:how much is cheap??
Reply:I love the idea that I first saw at theknot.com. Bride doesn't worry with picking the bridesmaids' dresses. She remembers that the dresses do not need to be identical. Bride just selects the color. Bride shows the color to the bridesmaids. Bridesmaids then go out and select their own dresses.

Each girl has found a dress flattering to her, at a price she can afford. Bride pulls the look together with flowers and maybe pashminas. Eliminates a lot of stress.

Go check out theknot.com for ideas. They have some great photos there. Good luck to you.
Reply:I had a small wedding also and we did it fairly cheap=i bought my dress at Davids Bridal during their $99 days sale. With my bridesmaids i choose a color and then let them pick there style. Davids separates are a great choice and are under $200. Also, for favors we did mints on all the tables that said something like "Thanks for coming...." ? After all was said and done we spent like 7000. Just remeber that there are lots of things that you can cut out, like linen table clothes (will anyone notice plastic?) Stuff like that. When making choices, think about weddings you have gone to-what do you remember about the wedding-the centerpieces or the best mans speech-you can't buy memories!!
Reply:You should do what you love. My reccomendation for bridesmaid dresses is to leave that up to the bridesmaids and save alot of hassle. So many brides are on here with "so and so hasn't ordered or dress three weeks before...what to do?". It is also a plus because they are more comfortable, are more likely to wear the dress again, and you don't have to do the awkward "so how much can you afford" convo.

You can get pretty specifc for instance tell your BMs that you would like cornflower blue dresses, floor length. (you can always retain veto power if you are worried they will choose something really inappropriate) They can find whatever is in their price range and it will show off their personalities. I've seen so many pictures where the brides take this road and I prefer them alot more to the carbon copy bridesmaids.
Reply:Well, first off, I would simply choose the color Palette and then let my bridesmaids choose their own dresses.

When I got married that is what I did, and my moh was SOOOO happy. She got to wear a black dress that she loved and I was happy not to have to worry about the stress.
