Color choice???

http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/kansa...

-follow this link to see a pic. of where my reception will be..it won't have the lights hanging down though. I was thinking of having a beach theme (teal and white) but I don't think I'm going to be able to come up with enough decor to drown out the golds and reds. What should I do? I haven't bought very much stuff yet; I can take back what I did get (it came from wal-mart). What colors would work well in the room if not? The beach theme was because I love this dress (http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_det... with cornflower as the color. Therefore, my bridesmaids would wear a dress in that same color (solid though). I just don't know what to do!

Color choice???
Don't look at the rooms colors nobody is looking at the chairs or wall. It's the color of the tablecloths, napkins and the centerpeices that people look at more than anything. They are there to socialize and have fun so make it a "celebration" and it's what you make it that poeple will remember. .
Reply:First, please understand that themes are highly overrated. Unless absolutely everything obviously fits a theme (like, you're on a beach for the wedding), guests are not going to pick up on the theme. Really, a wedding-themed wedding will suffice just fine.

Second, it doesn't matter at all if your bridesmaids match the interior of your reception site. No one is going to pay that much attention. Think about it. Have you ever been to a wedding and noticed that the color of the chairs didn't match the colors of the bridesmaid dresses? No, I'm sure you haven't. And your guests won't notice either.

Stick with this reception site, and go with the cornflower. It will be fine! But drop the theme, especially a beach theme. These dresses are not beachy dresses anyway (they're too long for sand). And unless you're getting married on a beach, a beach theme is pretty pointless.
Reply:Does you site offer chair covers by any chance? If so and you could afford them, thats a good ption for you to drown out the heavy red color of the room. The champagne color would go perfectly with your beach theme because its the color of sand, plus champagne goes well with any style or decor, its a mute color so it will adapt to your color scheme.

I would look into the chair covers.
Reply:You could still do a sea theme but make it more like a navy sea. You could incorporate navy, cream and chocolate colors. Maybe have navy tablecloths with cream napkins with sea shells and candles as the centerpiece. If you choose to dim the lights it would make a more "rich" and romantic appearance.
Reply:Beautiful place %26amp; very nice gown design. Teal might work if its a light teal. Theres a lot of gold %26amp; red in the room but your guests will be looking at you %26amp; the wedding party. Go with what you like. This is your special day- make the most of it. (Congrats)
Reply:Well let me say that "I almost bought that exact same dress from David's" - I'm really glad I didn't because you are the third bride that I've talked to that has bought or planned on buying that dress. You may want to consider another dress, or something similar to it, to avoid looking like a clone. With that said, it's a beautiful dress and if you are set on wearing it then you should do so. The room is LOVELY but I agree that its a big contrast to the casual beach dress you want to wear. If you are set on using that room, it will be difficult to drown out the deep reds and browns (though you could use chair covers in a light ivory) and the cornflower color will not help, it'll only melt into the background. I would suggest that you "fancy up" your wedding dress. Go for something more formal (because that room demands a formal wedding reception) or change your venue and have a beach or outdoor wedding. That dress would be perfect for outdoors - but even if you wear long gloves and wear your hair up, it won't stand up in that room. Good luck.
Reply:For the chairs you can rent chair covers in any color that you would like to match your wedding colors. Or you could rent white chair colors with whatever bow tied around them to match. Tablecloths are the same you can rent any color you want. Dont focus on the colors of the room. The floor wont be noticable once you cover the chairs.

Dont base your theme off of your bridesmaids dresses. Pick something that is uniquely you. Your from Kansas so beaches arent really a common thing where you are. If your set on the beach theme though keep the decorations simple. Don't over do it with palm trees and flip flops on teh tables.
Reply:if you get chair covers it will cover the red in the chairs and you can go ahead wit you beach wedding. check with the hall, they often have them there and rent them, or check with your caterer (if they are the one providing the linens). they are not that expensive and totally change the look of the room
Reply:sounds nice
Reply:Personally because that maroon is everywhere I'd either play on that color or go to a rental store and rent slipcovers...they're usually not that bad to rent...

then you could do your beach theme...the gold will be fine with teal and white
